Online Psychological Therapy in Australia

At Harlow Psychology, we recognise that each person’s experiences, challenges, and goals are distinct. Our approach to therapy is thoughtful and individualised, with care tailored to your specific needs rather than guided by a standardised model.

We provide evidence-based psychological support that is clinically grounded and responsive to the individual, with a focus on supporting meaningful and sustainable change over time.

All sessions are conducted via secure online video, allowing access to care regardless of location.

Online therapy may support:

  • flexible access to care

  • continuity of support

  • engagement from a familiar and private environment

A growing body of research indicates that online therapy can be an effective mode of delivering evidence-based psychological treatment for many individuals and presentations.

  • Our team consists of carefully selected psychologists with a high level of training and a breadth of clinical experience. We are committed to delivering evidence-based therapy with professionalism, care, and attention to detail.

Our aim is to create a therapeutic environment where you feel supported, understood, and equipped to make meaningful and lasting change.

  • We do not believe in a ‘one size fits all’ approach. Instead, we take the time to develop a comprehensive understanding of your concerns, your history, and the broader context of your life. This allows us to deliver therapy that is both precise and meaningful.

Our clinicians draw from a range of established, evidence-based modalities, including:

    • Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT)

    • Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT)

    • Schema Therapy

    • Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT)

    • Interpersonal Therapy (IPT)

    • Psychotherapy

    • Solution Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT)

    • Gottman Couples Therapy

    • Motivational Interviewing (MI)

    • Mindfulness-Based Therapies (MBT)

    • Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR)

Your psychologist will work collaboratively with you to determine the most appropriate therapeutic approach, adapting this over time as your needs evolve.

  • Therapy at Harlow Psychology is collaborative, structured, and focused on outcomes. While we provide a space for you to feel understood and supported, we also place emphasis on developing practical strategies and skills that can be applied in your daily life.

Where appropriate, you may be provided with exercises or resources between sessions to consolidate progress and enhance the effectiveness of your therapy.

  • When you contact Harlow Psychology, our team will assist you with any initial questions and guide you through the intake process.

We offer a brief initial consultation to ensure you are matched with a psychologist who is well suited to your needs and preferences. Establishing a strong therapeutic fit is an important part of effective treatment.

  • It is common to feel some uncertainty prior to your first appointment. Our psychologists aim to provide a calm, respectful, and non-judgemental environment where you can begin to feel at ease.

The first session typically involves a detailed assessment of your current concerns, relevant history, and contributing factors. This process helps to clarify your goals and inform a tailored treatment plan. You will also have the opportunity to ask questions and discuss how you would like to approach therapy.

  • Many individuals begin to notice benefits within the first several sessions, although this can vary. The overall duration of therapy depends on your goals, the nature of your concerns, and individual factors.

Psychological research indicates that a focused course of therapy can be effective for many presentations, often over a limited number of sessions. Some concerns may benefit from a longer-term approach where clinically appropriate.

You and your psychologist will determine a schedule that supports both progress and sustainability. Sessions often begin on a weekly basis and may be spaced out over time as improvements are consolidated.

  • Harlow Psychology provides assessment and therapy for a range of psychological concerns. There are, however, some services that fall outside our scope.

    • Crisis or emergency mental health care

    • Medico-legal reports for court proceedings

    • Reports for academic exemptions or insurance purposes

  • This service is designed to provide psychological support in a scheduled, non-urgent setting. Harlow Psychology is not a crisis service and does not provide emergency or crisis intervention.
